Review: Burn For Me

Burn For Me (Phoenix Fire, #1)Burn For Me by Cynthia Eden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book Cover ★★★★
Book Blurb ★★★★
Writing ★★★
Character Development ★★★★
Ending ★★★★★
Heat Rating ★★★★

Overall Rating 4.0

This book for the most part was really enjoyable, and at times edge of your seat and heartbreaking. I really enjoyed the concept of Subject Thirteen... Cain O'Connor. He was a new breed of paranormal men for me. And mmmm... he was HOT! In more ways than one!

"I'm the monster in the dark. The big, fucking bad wolf. I've seen hell, and I've bought hell to earth."
I mean really, he had me at "big, fucking bad wolf"!

But I do have one major gripe that kept this from being a 5 star for me... Eve. Things were just way to convenient when it came to this character. It was like the author kept throwing things in there for convenience. Couple cases in point:

"The motorcycle roared to life. Cain had jumped on behind her, his body curved around hers. Eve gripped the handlebars and she drove that bike the hell out of there. She knew her motorcycles. Knew exactly how to handle them."

Well, damn good thing there just happened to be one right there then, huh? And that this woman just happened to know how to drive it.

Then they are riding this bike outrunning the bullets, and then...

"...so she needed to get away as fast as possible.
Good thing she knew this area.
And the perfect safe house."

Well damn, isn't that just the lucky break!

But someone has a bullet wound... well enter Eve.

"'They'll save him,' Eve said, sounding so certain. 'The wound was all gore, but nothing vital had been hit.'
He glanced her way.
'Two years of med school,' she explained with a sigh. Her eyes closed as if she were tired. 'I know what death looks like.'"

Wow, she's just a Jane of all trades that one.

There were many instances like that in the book, but I didn't really start noticing them until about midway through.

Outside of that complaint, I did enjoy the story. Enjoyed the fresh new spin on what Cain was, and what happened to him when he changed. I liked the fact that it was Eve that smelled "like fucking candy..." to him, making her irrisistable to him.

Eve's internal monologue was, at times, pretty hysterical! I loved the snarkiness!

Snarkiness always wins me over for a character!

To Command and Collar Commands Attention!!

To Command and Collar (Masters of the Shadowlands, #6)To Command and Collar by Cherise Sinclair

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVED this installment in this series. With each book Cherise Sinclair writes in this series you can see her writing style getting better and better. Much more timeline believable.

I fell in love with Master Raoul and Kimberly. His touching and caring ways in which he helped Kim in the beginning and the slow process of realizing he was in love with her, and loved her enough to possibly let her go.

Kimberly's trust, while fragile in the beginning, and throughout the first half of the book, she begins to slowly open up and trust again.

My favorite thing was when she was to show him, by holding up her fingers, what her fear was. The way he was so attuned to her body by studying her.

This book was just all around good, not to mention, hot and sexy to boot.

I'd *love* to see Sam get his own story, and with as much "page time" as he got in To Command and Collar, could that be a possiblity? I sure hope so!

Club Shadowlands (Masters of the Shadowlands, #1)Club Shadowlands by Cherise Sinclair

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

At first shocked, she soon becomes aroused watching the interactions between the Doms and their subs. But she's a professional woman--an accountant--and surely isn't a submissive...is she?

Master Z hasn't been so attracted to a woman in years. But the little sub who has wandered into his club intrigues him. She's intelligent. Reserved. Conservative. After he discovers her interest in BDSM, he can't resist tying her up and unleashing the passion she hides within.

Review

Every once in a while a book comes along that grabs at your the literary brain cells. That you read and immediately want to read again, that while you're reading it, you can't put it down, you don't want it to end, you want to shout to everyone you know that they MUST, MUST read this book! You think about where the story is going to go next when you aren't sitting down holding it in your hands... well this is one of those books for me... one of those authors actually. Everything I've read by Cherise Sinclair (I recently finished the Mountain Masters series), and I do mean EVERYTHING has done this to me! I put one book down, only to start the next one! I've rounded a new literary corner and the sex is HOT!

Okay, I'm vanilla girl living in a vanilla world, plain and simple. I enjoyed Paranormal Romance.. then I moved a little further outside of my vanilla world and stepped into Paranormal Erotica... I thought I'd never get enough of that... then I found a group of ladies on Goodreads that read *Erotica*... *GASP* I picked up some pretty good recomendations from them, then I saw where they were talking about Cherise Sinclair and her Mountain Masters and Masters of Shadowland and I felt wicked just reading the blurbs! I couldn't understand why someone would want to read about such things as BDSM. There couldn't be any love or real romance, no HEA, just people torturing each other, or controling each other... right? RIGHT?

Wrong...

Enter Jessica, whose car breaks down in a storm, she walks and comes upon an estate where she askes to use the phone... one situation leads to another and she finds warmth, dry clothes... and Master Z. What she's stumbled into is a private BDSM club. Couriosity... ahh yes, couriosity is what keeps Jessica hanging around "just until she can get her car towed out of the ditch". Master Z takes good care of Jessica, and finds she is a true "Submissive" and now isn't it just lucky that he is the purrrrfect Dom? There are a lot of "scenes", and Jessica is scared, terrified... and well, turned on by it all... you'll have to read the rest to see how it goes. No spoilers here!

But I must tell you, this isn't for the faint of heart. It's raw and powerful. It will make you blush, laugh out loud, cringe, but I'll bet you won't be able to put it down!

Go on, I dare you.

Logan, the lodge owner, finds her freezing on the porch. After hauling her inside, he warms her in his own bed, and there the experienced Dom discovers that Rebecca might not be a swinger...but she is definitely a submissive.

Rebecca knows that no one can love her plump, scarred body. To her shock, lodge owner Logan not only disagrees, but ties her up and shows her just how much he enjoys her curves. Under his skilled hands, Rebecca not only loses her inhibitions, but also her heart.

Damaged from the war, Logan considers himself too dangerous to be around the enticing little sub. He sends her away for her own safety, not realizing she believes she has once again been rejected because of her size. As Logan's mountains echo with her voice long after she's gone, he realizes she's taken his heart with her. But when he arrives in the city to reclaim her, Rebecca's phone has been disconnected and her apartment is empty...

Review

My first big step into this particular genre... (I took a baby step with another recent read that put me on the path!) and OMG! What a way to dive right in! Loved this book! It's the first I've read that isn't PN, PNR or PNR/erotic.

As for this book, it was fantastic! I loved this author and have already marked some of her other books to read.

Not for the faint of heart.

Review

I wasn't sure I would like this book/series since it was Demons.. I'm a vampire kinda gal. I loved Midnight Breed and Black Dagger Brotherhood, and I have to say the Demonica Series is right up there in the top three! I would consider this story to be paranormal erotica, not just PNR!

I decided to get it on audiobook instead of for my Nook, just to have "something to listen to" while I waited for the newest Lara Adrian book to come out. I was totally taken off guard at how much I enjoyed this book! I can't get enough!

There is a lot going on in this book, but the narration is perfect. She reminded me a lot of Hillary Huber, whom I love to listen to (and who narrates the second book), her inflections and timing are dead on.

I'm in love with this series and can't wait to move on to the next (audio)book!
