Pending Reviews

I read the entire Gypsy Brother's Series, but due to time, I haven't (yet) got my review up for Two Roads or One Love by Lili St. Germain. I do hope to get those done soon, and when I do, I'll get them posted here.. but I LOVED both books, and rated then 5 and 4 Stars respectively.

"Ever has it been that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation." --Khalil Gabran

Okay this book... *THIS* book is my favorite of the five I've read in this series! This book is so dark and twisted that it's hard to find any goodness or light to even escape it.
The terrifying ending to the last book picks up in this one. Dornan knows. The one word he said to her, the one that made my skin prickle and crawl... "Juliette". I knew at that moment that her life and her vendetta could very well end.

"You think you're the one with the power, at least I did, but then I got careless. One tiny mistake, and now I am powerless to stop what comes next." --Juliette
Dornan thinks he's breaking, or broken, Juliette... but even Dornan isn't that good. In my opinion, Juliette is just too strong for that. I seriously don't think Dornan could break her. The only one that could break her is Jase. If something happened to him, or if he turned his back on her and betrayed her, or took his love away from her. *That* could break her... but Dornan? Pffftttt. Right? RIGHT??

I've got nothing left inside. I don't want to fight anymore. I don't want revenge.

I just want to die.
--Juliette
Okay. So I could be wrong... perhaps Dornan does have that power.

The only way for you to find out is to read this book! Oh if you love the darkness, you love this book!

"If you prick us do we not bleed? If you poison us do we not die? And if you wrong us shall we not revenge?--William Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice
Finally in this installment, Jase finds out that Sammi is really Juliette. I'd been waiting for him to discover this. But I felt that it's was kind of anticlimactic, Jace (to me) seems to just accept it, business as usual. But I was still happy that the truth finally came out.

And Dornan.. the man must have 9 lives. Blowing up the motorcycles while Dornan and his sons were on them *still* didn't kill him.
Jacked him up pretty bad, but didn't kill him.

Elliot makes some handy dandy little dirty bombs that Juliette has to put in the tanks of the motorcycles. She has a remote app on her phone that she can use to detonate the bombs.
But Dornan just won't fucking die! He is in a coma, which is acceptable, until he wakes up.

In the meantime Jase and Juliette are finding the love they once shared, but in reality, Juliette doesn't really have time to explore this love in-depth, and even if she could, she wouldn't, she has to complete this vendetta.
But we do get to see some sexy time between Jase and Juliette. Their love is hot, and sweet, and Ms. St. Germain writes it impeccably.

I really enjoy the chemistry between Jace and Juliette, and I love feeling their deep connection.

This book, even with all the action, still felt a bit "calmer" than the previous books, a tiny bit of a reprieve from all the darkness, but I was still on edge waiting for what was going to come next. I was not disappointed.

"God hath given you a face, and you make yourself another."--William Shakespeare, Hamlet

"I don't know if it was God who gave me my face or my mother and father, but either way, it's gone now. Sliced away, reshaped by a man with kind eyes and skilled hands. I did it so he would desire me, so he wouldn't know who I really was.

And now I have the face of a killer." --Juliette/Sammi

We start off Book 3 of the Gypsy Brothers' Series with 2 dead sons, Cade and Maxi, behind us. Two down, and 4 brothers plus dear old dad left.

Dornan seems to get more and more deranged with each book. Juliette/Sammi has been warned that he will kill her if she ever betrays him.

But Juliette is determined, no matter what, to carry out her revenge. And with Elliot, albeit reluctantly, helping her, she doesn't feel she can fail.

I sometimes think that Juliette thinks she's invincible.
"I'm reminded of the dangerous game I’m playing here. Like Russian roulette, but with more bullets in the gun and I’m the girl holding the fun to my head, hoping desperately to hear an empty click each time I pull the trigger instead of my brains splattering on the wall behind me." --Juliette

Sometimes I just want to scream at Juliette that she's not only putting herself in grave danger, but also Jace, Elliot, Elliot's ex-girlfriend and their daughter, Elliot's grandma... and anyone else that her life intersects with. She is so single minded in her revenge that she take incredible risks.

I know I've said it in my previous reviews, but I really loved this series. The author steps it up in each book, and throws in some really good twists, and they're dark, oh so dark... which if you know me, you know I love.

The second book in the Gypsy Brothers' Series was even better than the first!

"'To be wronged is nothing, unless you continue to remember it.' -- Confucius

'I would never forget. And so, for me, being wronged was everything.'--Juliette/Sammi"

In the first book, Seven Sons, we saw Juliette get started on her revenge when she killed Chad.. and in this book we see her stalk another one of the brothers while Dornan is in mourning.

We also find out what Dornan did to Mariana 6 years ago for her "betrayal" of him. And true to Dornan's form, he whispers the deed into Juliette's ear during sex.

My one problem with Juliette is that she seems to get off on sex with Dornan. As much as she says she is only doing it to get close enough to him, the club, and the cartel to take them all down, the majority of the time she enjoys it. *pondering look*

But I did enjoy this book, just as much, if not more, than the first in the series. I have a feeling it's only going to continue to get better. That's my hope at least!

After coming off the high of reading the Cartel Series, I couldn't wait to get into the Gypsy Brothers Series! And I wasn't disappointed!

"'Confucius said. "Before embarking upon a journey of revenge, dig two graves.'
I planned to dig seven"
Seven Son's picks up 6 years later after Juliette was brutally and horrifically raped by Dornan and 6 of his 7 sons while the 7th son, Jason (Jase), was forced to watch. Juliette was all but dead when she was taken to the hospital. Dornan didn't *want* her dead, he still needed information from her on where her father, John, hid the money that he embezzled.

But as far as Dornan and his sons knew.. well as far as everyone knew, Juliette died in the hospital. But she was actually rescued by Elliot, a cop that was on the case. He took her back to his grandma's home in Nebraska where she was nurtured and loved.

"Elliot was my one constant. He was gentle and kind. He listened to all of the demons inside me that were clamoring to smother me, to kill me. He held me while I cried. He wiped away my tears.

And then, inexplicably, he fell in love with me." --Juliette
Elliot loved Juliette, and Juliette loved Elliot, but she had nothing but revenge on her mind and that overshadowed anything she could ever really have with Elliot. And she was still in love with the boy that Dornan brought home one day when they were only 16 years old, Jase.

Dornan had killed Jase's mom, leaving her dead body in the bathtub for Jase to find, then Dornan took Jase "home" to meet his family. Yes, Dornan is Jase's father... but he's frickin' Psycho!!

Oh, yes he *did*. Dornan loved his sons in his own twisted and fucked up way. And I think he actually grew to love Jase... but the other 6 brothers, not so much. They were cruel to Jase. Sadistically cruel.

In Juliette's quest for revenge, she wants to infiltrate the Gypsy Brothers and kill them all, one by one. She goes to Thailand to have total facial reconstruction. The only thing she can't hide are the 7 slash marks on her hip where each of the 6 brothers and their father slashed her with a knife when they were (each) done raping her.

"Today my name is Juliette Portland, but tomorrow I will wake up as someone else entirely.

So with a new face, she heads for the Gypsy Brothers' compound, to begin her quest for revenge as Samantha/Sammi Peyton.

She is able to seduce Dornan into making her his new girlfriend. And as Sammi finds out, Dornan is just a brutal *in* bed as he is out of it.

Moving from the Cartel Series into the Gypsy Brothers' series I find that the Dornan I liked in the past is truly no more. He feeds off cruelty. He's dark and twisted, and did I mention psycho?

Seeing Jase again and not being able to tell him who she is, is tough on Juliette, but she has to maintain her cover or risk being killed.

I'm glad I read the Cartel Series first, even though, I think it was intended as a prequel. I felt like I followed the timeline into hell much better.

The Gypsy Brothers' series is proving to be even more twisted and sadistic than the Cartel series.
