Where's the beef.... errr... the alpha male?

Renegade Lady (Renegade Sons MC, #1)Renegade Lady by Dawn Martens
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This book started out okay, then it turned into more like "day care erotica". Just barely a step above YA. The book stalled at about 23% and just sat there.

I couldn't get a connection with the characters. Kidd reminds me of just that, a kid. He's suppose to be 26 in the beginning of the book but i wouldn't have thought him to be much older than 16 year old Jenna. None of the bikers in this book have that "bad ass biker, alpha male" feel to them. It's hard to get behind an "alpha male" name "Kidd", much less one named "Chipper".

The "warning" for this book says This is a raw and gritty story involving explicit sex, 40+% in there hadn't been a single sex scene that wasn't fade to black or alluded to after the fact.

I really had high hopes for this new series. But i think my tastes run a bit more on the darker side than what I found in this book.

Dark and Totally Twisted!

Obsession: Girl AbductedObsession: Girl Abducted by Claire Thompson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

**Warning Extremely Dark Non-Con**

What the hell did I just read? I loved it, I hated it, and I wanted more of it.

As of late I've been exploring more of the darker non-con books and then I happened on to this one. Yeah, I wanted dark, and I wanted non-con and I got exactly that and more. This is a very hardcore dark non-con read that starts with abduction and is non-stop torture. All very explicit and aggressive. And one of the most graphically disturbing books I've read. And the best part? It was plausible and very believable.

Mark is one twisted individual, obsessed with a BDSM porn star, Emily. He's watched her for years, has all of her movies and has stalked her enough to know her daily routines, her family, friends and where they all live, and he has a plan to finally make Emily his.

Mark kidnaps Emily and takes her home where he completely breaks her down and makes her his slave. But it's the way he does things that will totally twist you up, make you think you can't read another page but at the same time you can't look away. That is exactly what this book did to me. I could not stop reading.

This book is full of degradation, humiliation, and heavy S&M to include water sports, forniphilia, bondage, rape, branding, piercing, sodomy. All manner of whips, floggers, canes, and suspension hooks. Oh my! And let's not forget the cage in the closet.

The total mind bender in all of this is how the author actually made me feel for Mark at the end. What? Really? Not only was my mind twisted up by the end of this book, but so was my heart.

This book left me wanting more. An epilogue would have been nice. A "One Year Later" type of chapter.

Fantastic Follow-up!

Reaper's Legacy (Reapers MC, #2)Reaper's Legacy by Joanna Wylde
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Finally! A book with a strong heroin lead that isn't afraid to say what's on her mind, no matter how big the hero is! And Ruger is BIG! And he's intimidating and oh sooo sexy. I loved Sophie. She was refreshing and honest, a great mom, and best (or worst) of all, in love with Ruger!

I was so excited to hear that this book was finally coming out. I sat and devoured it in one day. I never do that, but this book was a page turner.

Oh! And the piercings! Ruger definitely had them from eyebrow to.. well.. yes even *there*! And he wasn't afraid to use a single one of them! And his tatts. Oh the tattoos and at the end when you find out what one particular tatt is, OMG I was stunned and fell in love with this sexy alpha male just a little bit more!

This book has it all, mayhem, murder, kidnapping, and love. It's a wild 90mph 2-wheel ride down a slippery mountain side getting to each of those, and the cherry on top of this wild ride is the fact that this book is sexy hot!

Outside of the main characters, Ruger and Sophie and all their hot sex, you have Noah, Sophie's son, who was fathered by Ruger's half brother, Zach. Zach is a dead beat dad and Ruger steps in to be the man in the boys life. Ruger loves Noah and the feeling is quite mutual. I loved that this hard ass biker, who is an arrogant, control freak, know it all (but really, in a hot sexy way!) could be such a wonderful father figure for Noah. That sealed the deal for me in my love of this character. Noah is the pint sized glue that holds the story of Ruger and Sophie together.

Sophie is living in a small run down apartment with Noah, a hard working single mom who is just trying to squeak out a living for her and her son. Zach, being the dead beat dad that he is, just stops paying child support, so there's no help there. She's moved hours away from Ruger, so he has no idea she's in such dire straits. Until a phone call from Noah who is frightened and scared at a new baby sitters house. The catalyst for Ruger and Sophie to begin their journey.

I enjoyed all the sub characters and plots in this book and can actually see openings for future books from some of them. We already know that Em and Hunter will have their own book, Devil's Game, which is up next. Would love to see a book on Picnic. And will poor Bolt ever get out of jail? You see quite a bit of Horse and Marie in this book too. Was nice to get a little bit of a fix from them!

So the big question was, can Ruger live up to a man called "Horse"? Ahhh, well now, you'll just have to run and get Reaper's Legacy to find out!

A solid 4 star read for me!

Project needs some work

The Dom ProjectThe Dom Project by Heloise Belleau
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The idea of this book was a good one. But for me, this book dragged for the most part, and I found myself skimming it and just waiting for it to end. For the most part it was a sweet love story between 2 best friends that find they have the same "interests".

But there was just too much talk about things that really didn't matter. I also had a hard time believing in John's Domination, but I did believe in their friendship and their love for each other, the growth the both found with each other.

In The Den (Mastered, #6)In The Den by Sierra Cartwright
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ahhh... finally Damien's story!

Damien. We've watched him, strong and silent, but ever present through 5 books, so it was a fitting end to this series for him to finally stand in the spotlight and shine in this book!

The strong Dom and the strong Domme. It was a novel concept. And I liked that she was willing to see it from "the other side", to take it as a learning experience. Little did she know that when she went to Master Damien, of her own free will, after their talk, that she would learn so much more than she bargained for.

I enjoyed the way she embraced being a submissive, even when she struggled a bit internally.

I liked this final chapter in the series, but I felt, that there were some things left out of the story, making the ending feel a little rushed. I would however, recommend it to anyone interested in this genre.

While I love reading a series from start to finish, this is one of those that each book could be a standalone, even though each book is centered around "The Den", there is enough information in each book to not *have* to read the other 5, although I highly recommend it. Especially the first book, With This Collar. My favorite book in this entire series.

Outside of the 2 main characters, Master Damien and Catrina, the one character that *has* been a constant in each book was Gregorio and I enjoyed his character in each of the 6 books. Would love to see him have a book of his own at some point. *hint hint, Ms. Cartwright!*

This book rates a solid 4 stars.

Tears of Tess...

Tears of Tess (Monsters in the Dark, #1)Tears of Tess by Pepper Winters
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

What to say about this book...

In the beginning I really enjoyed it, I liked the dark content, but somewhere around the middle it started to fall flat. I was encouraged that it would get better, and at some point I did start to enjoy it again.. Then all I wanted was for it to end, and there were several places that it could have done so. It really started to feel like the neverending story at times.

I have to admit that it tugged at my heart when Q sent Tess away, and I was happy when Tess went back to him of her own accord.

The answers *finally* came at the end about Q and Suzette, and they answered all the questions nice and neat, and they fit and made sense. But I think those answers, or at least *some* of them, would have been better served *in* the story then what felt like more of an afterthought at the end.

There were a lot of BDSM elements in this book, the darker elements, and I felt like the author had a list of them and felt the need to use them all, whether they had a place in that particular scene or not. I'm not a fan of purple prose, but I do understand that sometimes it's necessary here and there, it was extremely overused in this book.

And yes, I got it, Q smelled like citrus and sandalwood. Oh and sin. Can't forget sin. The scent of citrus, assaulted her, drowned her, hugged her, kept her grounded, drugged her, hit her, and mixed with her scent. She searched for it, was gripped by it, and breathed deep of it's heady scent and tasted it on him. Did the man bathe in the stuff? Hmm, maybe he did.

I'm just not sure where the second book can go after all of this. But I may have to read it to find out.

I'm wavering somewhere between 2.5 and 3 stars on this one.
