Review: Outlaw by Nicole James

Outlaw (Evil Dead MC, #1)Outlaw by Nicole James

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Writing: ★★★
Story: ★★★★★

Overall rating: 4.0

I really enjoyed this first in series book! It took me much longer to read than I like, but not because it wasn't good, but because life got busy on me.. but when I was away from this book, I was thinking about the characters. That says a lot about how much I enjoyed it!

Cole is a rough and tumble biker, VP of The Evil Dead motorcycle club.

Angel is a girl that was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

When Cole sees Angel for the first time, she's in handcuffs and being dragged behind Chucky. She's been beaten, and he finds out later, raped. He ends up taking her away from Chucky, rescuing her, then taking her back to California on the back of his bike.

Part of me loved the Alpha that Cole could be, but when Angel, so quickly, gave in sexually, I found that a bit hard to digest. But at the same time, I realize that this is a work of fiction and it needed to happen to move the story along.

And move along it did. This was a long book, but it held my interest and I connected with the characters.

Mack, the President of The Evil Dead; I don't like him. He had very few redeaming qualities.

Natalie, Angel's aunt, and a wonderful person. She loves Angel and only wants the very best for her and will do anything to help her achieve it.

I loved how Cole loved Angel, he was purely "Alpha" but with her he wasn't afraid to let his softer side show. While I *love* an Alpha, I can also appreciate the truly human side, the side that isn't afraid to show feelings.

And the sex scenes. Hot. Hot. Hot! Normally anymore, when reading erotica, the over the top drug out sex scenes start to bore me and I end up skimming, but not in this book. The scenes were well done, and just enough to get my attention, and then move on to he heart of the story.

Some of the downfalls of this book:

► The author's writing style. At the very beginning of the book, right at page one, I was lost, had to re-read the first few pages several times, trying to figure out who was who and who belonged where.

► The names of the motorcycle clubs The Evil Dead and the Dead Souls, were so similar (both having "Dead" in them) that it was hard to tell which club was which. But, I pushed through, and was quickly caught up in the story.

► The over descriptiveness of every move/detail. Better editing could have easily fixed this minor issue. And this is the reason this book, for me, is a 4 star instead of a 4.5 or 5.0.

But, this is the first book in the series, and sometimes it *can* be a little bumpy. I have a feeling that the author will improve with each book. She has a great foundation on which to build.

I enjoyed this book enough that I do plan on continuing the series... and I'm looking forward to doing so!

Final Debt (Indebted, #6)Final Debt by Pepper Winters

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 *Perfect Ending* Stars

Bravo! I loved the Indebted Series, every single book, but it was time for it to end. To go out "on top". I was ready, and so were Jethro and Nila. The only thing left to do is read the Indebted Epilogue, to find out how Jethro and Nila move on. I *am* anxious to read their (hopefully) "happily ever after". And did I just see somewhere that there is going to be a prequel? Indebted Beginnings Oh hell yeah! Bring it on!

From the very first book I was hooked, and I can't even begin to decide which book in this series was my favorite. Possibly the Second Debt... perhaps it was this one seeing Nila and Jethro grow as people, one getting stronger, one finally allowing a bit of vulnerability. Both showing both of those traits at different times.

Bonnie and Cut and Daniel.. Oh my! Oh how I despised these crazy fucked up characters through this whole series. They're all just plain crazy! So many times I wanted to wrap my fingers around their windpipes and pull. They are all necessary evils, and without them, there would be no story. But, damn... they're all so twisted!

But this book also showed the human side of these characters that I had come to believe were less than capable of anything but cruelty. So many things were finalized, answered, wrapped up. So much redemption, forgiveness, and answers are found in this book, and all were done very well. And a lot of history was shared.

I love dark reads.. dark non-con filled with all sorts of taboo, and this saga hit every love, and took me places that my mind would have never thought possible.

This book also had some unexpected POVs that were very welcome. Some were tear worthy. But all were fitting for this book. There were a couple times I was ready for this book to move along, but for the most part, I really wouldn't change a thing.

The transformations in the main characters in this saga were always ongoing.
Enemies Unknown
Hawk and Weaver
Kite and Needle
Jethro and Nila
Friends and lovers

And finally...

Soulmates.
Soul shredding, heart wrenching, and beautiful. This series will go down as *the* top series for me. My very favorite. Well done, Pepper Winters!

But wait! That's not all! Lets not forget Nila's core in this review (as I've made mention of in my other reviews of this series!) Just a little fun. It didn't go unnoticed that Pepper toned down Nila's clenching core in this book! Which I was *really* happy to see. I really worried about all the things that her core was doing, that it was going to wear itself out! But in this final book, her core only clenched once, Jethro pulled on that invisible cord, (that was new), between Nila's breast and core causing her womb to clench and wetness to weep, her core grew wet, and then finally... finally her core "detonated"! Such a fitting finalé for Nila's over active core!

First of all, can I just point out the cover of this book? Not only does the cover model look just like what I picture "MC" to look like, but I love everything about it from the font to the colors. Well done, Normandie!

This story was Sexy, yes, with a capital "S". I had a special interest in this story, and it read like a page from my life there for a bit, so much so, I was ready to see if Normandie had hijacked my computer!

I loved the imagination of MC in setting up tasks and scene play, and the willingness of Sophie to do as she was told. I actually had to stop a couple of times and just picture in my mind exactly what position she was in to achieve what he was having her do. I also liked that Sophie stuck to her guns about "no cam/video" scenes. She did everything her Dom asked of her, but that was one thing she wouldn't compromise on.

I enjoyed the characters, however I thought MC was kind of a jerk at times. Sometimes the language was a bit off putting, from both of them, I really enjoy "dirty talk" but some of this just felt forced or out of place. But not enough to totally distract me from the story.

Thank you, Normandie, for allowing me to R2R one of your books. I truly enjoyed the story!

*****5 "Roger, Raven One" Stars *****

Oh my heart, my emotions! This book. To quote Mark...

"Holy fucking shit!"

There are a lot of characters in play in this book, and at times, I did have to look back to see who a certain character was, but each and every one of them are there for a reason, they have a purpose, so even though there were "a lot", there weren't "too many".

A side note, I found it amusing that the character names were almost biblical. Mark, John, Paul, Mike (Michael)... and Luka is pretty close to Luke.

This book is full of lies and deceit, twists and turns, darkness and light, and love. I loved every turn of the page. I couldn't put this book down, even woke up at 4 in the morning thinking about it, so I got a cup of coffee and curled up to read! Yes, it's that good and that engaging!

Ms. Drake is a recently new author to me, having read the first 2 books in her
Darkness Series
, and while waiting for the third book in that series to come out I decided to read this series. Could an author hit a home run for me with more than one series? Oh yeah!

Savannah Miller and Cole Logan. They left me... Broken by the end of this book.

Warning, this book has a MAJOR cliffhanger, so have book 2, locked and loaded!

*****5 Creepy Jimmy Stars!*****

First of all I want to mention the cover of this book. It's the perfect rendition of what, in my mind, Emily looks like, and it really helped me to envision her throughout the book. Well done!

Darkness Follows picks up right where Darkness Lurks leaves off. Emily has been taken by Jimmy Lasko and he's got her gagged and ziptied to an old wooden chair. Emily is, naturally, frightened and is trying to calm herself when the door opens and a masked man walks in. But worse than that, there's a computer in the room, and it's broadcasting directly to Seth and the OPD. Seth and his co-workers can see and hear everything that is happening to Emily.

Seth is beside himself, and he blames himself for Emily getting kidnapped. If only he hadn't allowed himself to get to close. If only, if only, if only..

Days and days pass before Emily finally gets the chance to escape, and she takes full advantage of it. All she wants, all she thinks about, is getting back to Seth and his loving and protective arms.

*SCREEEEECH*

Not so fast, Emily. She gets back only to find that once again, Seth has pulled away. He's pulling the, "I need some space" card, and it makes me want to throttle him. He feels that if he hadn't let himself get too close, then he could have protected Emily better by not being distracted.

Emily during this time, kinda goes off the rails. She won't listen to common sense, she won't *use* common sense. Even goes so far as taking a mini-vacay at a spa.

Seriously, Emily? I found her to be very selfish and dangerous, and I worried that that combination was going to cause someone that she cares about to get hurt, or worse, killed.

Jimmy's creep factor is amped up in this book, just when you thought he couldn't get any more creepy, he does.

I can't go into too much about him in this review, there's just no way to do so and not spoil something for others. So i'll just leave it that you should definitely read with the lights on and the doors locked!

This book had me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails, and growling at Emily and Seth in frustration. But I wouldn't change a thing... well except for Emily's "brave side"... that got to be pretty annoying in the book, a bit overused. Other than that tiny little detail this book was over the top brilliant!

Oh, and the ending! I did NOT see that coming! Mind was officially blown!

This book, like book one, ends in a MAJOR cliffhanger. But, book 3, Darkness Falls, comes out on October 13, 2015! I'm hope this will wrap up this series, because...

*GASP*

J.L. Drake is a "new to me" author, and I absolutely LOVED her writing style, the way she told this story. I could picture everything as it happened, I could hear the character's voices, I felt like I *knew* these characters. This was a real page turner for me! Couldn't get enough!

This book was dark and creepy, intense and suspenseful and I couldn't get enough!

Emily McPhee, there were moments in this book that I really just wanted to smack her and wake her the hell up. She just didn't listen or use common sense half the time. She is like the idiot girl that runs into the old abandoned barn on a dark rainy night, tripping and falling all the way, only to run right into the arms of the guy with the chainsaw. But she was loveably (yes, I'm making that a word!) clueless, and totally in love with Seth Connors.

Seth Connors, ahhhh, Seth, I really enjoyed this character, although, at times I felt like he listened to too many outside influences instead of his own head. Seth has been on the police force for a couple of years, he takes his job very seriously, and because of that, he tries to keep his feelings for Emily purely in the friend zone.

Jimmy Lasko, this guy was a Grade A, Class One, psychopath. One of the scariest and most disturbed I've read about. He's sick and twisted and Ms. Drake writes his character so well and so believable that I actually sit up and take notice of things that go bump in the night!

Jimmy is obsessed with Emily. Over the top, creep factor to the inth degree! He wants her, and he means to have her. He stalks her constantly. It's his stalking that alerts Emily to something not being right when she starts hearing noises in her house.

Seth, who lives next door, encourages Emily to get a roommate, someone to be an extra set of eyes and ears and hopefully a deterrent to anyone meaning to do her any harm.

She does interview a few people, but in her heart, she know that Seth would be the perfect roommate, and wouldn't that just be handy to have him living in the same house with her, even if he did only want to be friends!

But Seth does want more, he's also in love with Emily, but the protector in him, not to mention those pesky outside influences, knows that in order to keep her safe, he has to keep her at arm's length.

There are a whole host of characters in this book that fill in the story so perfectly. Everyone has a place, characters aren't just there to fluff things up.

Warning, this book ends in a cliffhanger, so have the second book, Darkness Follows, on hand to continue this brilliant series! I've definitely found a new author to love... and stalk for more books!

****4 Exhausted Stars****
As you can tell from my status updates on Goodreads concerning this book, I was fully into it, until the last couple of chapters.

This book kept me on the edge, wondering, wondering, and more wondering, what the big reveal was going to be. I had guessed some of it, but not all of it. But, by the time the "big reveal" FINALLY came, it was very anti-climactic for me.

Reading this book, I kept wanting... *something*, some hint... it got to the point where I was getting frustrated. It just went on and on and on. I enjoy a build up and a good mind fuck in my books, but the build up kept rising then falling flat. And that's how the ending was for me, flat.

Sure there were *some* hints, if you knew what you were looking for, but even they didn't feel like they tied in at the end.

The Epilogue didn't do anything for me, it was unrealistic and too farfetched.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Overall rating: 4.3

On Christmas Eve, Merric Case, (Merc), freelance assassin, was sent to Wyoming to rescue 16 year old Sydney Channing, a US Senator's daughter, from a dangerous Militia group, but at the last minute, something changed, Merc made a choice of a new life and money, so he left Sydney in the hands of Garrett, a sociopath who turned her into his own personal mind controlled sexual slave for the first two years before disappearing and leaving her to run a bar he owned for the last six years.

Six years of living with that chilling promise that Merc made the night he left her begging him to rescue her. Living every day waiting for Merc to come back for her.
"I will come back for you, bitch. When you least expect it. When your life goes back to normal and all this is nothing but a nightmare. Just when you think it's over. I will come back for you. I own you." -- Merc
It's that threat that Sydney lives with, because Merric Case didn't strike her as a man who would go back on his word.
"He owned me, he said. His eyes are burned into my memory. Cold eyes. Dark eyes. The eyes of a killer who takes no prisoners and never forgets a debt." --Sydney
Merc does return, but not to kill her, not right away at least. He knows that Sydney has some important information, he needs to know where Garrett is and only Sydney can tell him that. And Merc will use all the tools available to him, sex and lies, even leading Sydney to believe his lies of love.

And from there it's one helluva ride!

I really enjoyed this book, it was the first I've read by JA Huss. It was dark and gritty, full of suspense and a real page turner for me!

Note: I understand there are other books by this author that Merc is mentioned in, but this isn't listed as a series book. It seemed, for the most part, like a stand alone, but there were times that names, (and circumstances), were mentioned that meant nothing to me since I hadn't read other books. It would be helpful if the other books were mentioned at the end of the book synopsis, giving the reader the choice of reading them or just sticking with this as a stand alone.

I read these 3 books back to back, lay one down, pick up the next. They were that good, and each book was darker than the last. And I do love dark reads!!

This book picks right up where Rampant left off, Raft and Alex have been kidnapped. They are in the trunk of a car. And that's all I can tell you about that without giving anything away.

This book was a MAJOR twist of the whole series. I didn't see all of it coming, and more than once an audible gasp escaped me along with a few, "What the Fucks". And that is what I loved. That it wasn't predictable, that it didn't even give me a chance to guess, cause the things that happened weren't even on my radar.

If you love dark erotica reads, this series will be right up your alley. The first book was so tame and mild compared to this third book, that at times it doesn't seem possible that it's all part of the same series! But you have to read this series as it's intended so you don't miss a thing!

Warning, all books end in major cliffhangers, including this one, and now I wish I would've waited to read it until the fourth book was out, (Vagrant comes out on August 18, 2015), but at the same time, I wouldn't trade a *second* of the ride so far!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Overall rating: 4.3

To others our story would read as some insane horror story about a couple of disturbed and delusional people and not the love tale that it was, but that’s all right.
This book was quite a surprise, i've read Terry Tower's books before, and always enjoyed them. I didn't know about this one until it popped up on my Amazon as a recommended read. Thank you Amazon!

"There's something to be said about looking into the darkest depths of your partner's mind and, after having a glimpse behind the black curtain of their soul, still loving them despite it -- even because of it."
This book sucked me right in from the beginning, and while I felt that Tanner could have ended up as a stronger character I understood that sometimes love does conquer all. As it was in the case of this book.

It was a bit difficult to wrap my head around the Christian overtones in this book, with a dark erotica, but I do think that Ms. Towers pulled it all together nicely.

Emily was a pastor's daughter, and was raised by Proverbs 31 -- that she should be a woman of virtue and humility, eager to be a dutiful wife and mother. Meeting Tanner threw all those beliefs out the window. She was to be his slave and his whore. A role that was completely out of her element...but at the same time, there was something about it, with Tanner, that made her crave it.

Tanner starts out as a very dark character, but slowly, over time, he seems to sink into Emily's web instead of the other way around. No, he doesn't turn into a born again Christian, but he is able to give Emily what she needs and craves, even if Emily didn't know she wanted those things herself.

This book is dark, but there is a light, albeit dim, that starts to shine. For me this was a page turner. It was twisted with a lot of surprises. I love that in a book!!

Looking forward to reading more from this author in the future!

4 "Burn for me, baby" Stars
This was my first book by Pam Goodwin, and it won't be my last. This book was great! Lots of twists and turns, and some darkness and hotness... what more could a new fan ask for?

"You build me up and turn me inside out. I've never felt so defenseless and yet...so daring at the same time."
This is the story of Charlee, a girl on the run from a black and dangerous past, and Jay Mayard a rising star star in the music world. And Roy, the man that can bring about destruction to both of them.

Jay first meets Charlee when he goes into a tattoo parlor to get a tat to cover the scars on his back. The scars are horrific and he just wants them blacked out. Charlee sees beauty and strength in the scars and she decides to bring the strength out in Jay. Problem is, Jay can't stand to be touched. At. All. Charlee does her best to put a tat on a guy that doesn't want what she's imagining, and doesn't want to be touched.

She only gets part of the tat done that night, but it's enough for Jay to know he wants her to complete it.. problem is, Charlee has disappeared. Vanished.

Enter Roy. This man is horrible, mean, cruel, and Charlee belongs to him. Has for years. And will for many more. Eight more to be exact before she is able to slip out of his clutches again.

Charlee and Jay's journey is a rocky one. But there is one thing they have in common... they love each other, and will do anything for each other.

This book gripped my heart in all the right places and twisted me up with fear for the MCs. It's a ride I won't soon forget!

Some of the fun parts of the books was the whole new vocabulary of words and one liners I picked up from Jay and his rock star band! If only I could find a way to weave some of these into my daily conversations!
Cockblockalypse
Blue ovaries frustrated
Rockognition
Go eat a dick
fucktillion
fuckateria
grape-smugglers
rockstrap
prickadonna
I have to say this author has a great imagination, and the words actually make sense in their context!

I really enjoyed this read and I'll be looking up Pam Goodwin for more!!

What a twisted, fuck up, dark story... I loved it!
This book picks up right where book one ended, and the darkness level has definitely been turned WAY up in book 2 of this series!
"Rafe was dead. Last night I'd lived a dream, so vivid I could still feel him against me. But I'd never feel him again. Never hear his voice, his laughter. Never breathe in the musk of his skin, feel the sweat of his brow at my breasts. Never again lose my breath to the vice of his hands around my throat. I'd give anything to get that back, even if giving up control terrified me." - Alex
Alex thinks Rafe is dead, and she's being held prisoner by her step-brother, Zach, who fancies himself in love with little sister. Zach is so twisted, and Ms. James really knows how to get into the character's head, in turn getting the character into the reader's head.
"Nighttime always hit hard, when the dark wee hours of morning choked me with loneliness" - Alex
Zach drugs Alex with Ecstasy and rapes her, brutally, marking her body as his, and her only escape to to think of Rafe, which becomes her downfall.

But the major twist that shows up straight out of the gate is almost gut wrenching and the twists and turns don't stop there.. if you love dark reads this one will hold you captive, all the way to the cliffhanger ending! Better have book 3 locked and loaded in your e-reader.. trust me, as soon as you get to the last page of this one, you'll want to start the next one right away.

Hunted, book 5 and final book in this series was more than I could have even asked for.

In this book we hear from the brothers, Lucas, Roman, Charlie and Tyler. Roman has arranged some "family time" for the brothers and their others, and in true Hunter Brother's fashion, not a whole lot goes as planned.

This series is one of my favorites and I was thrilled when the author offered me an ARC of this book to review. I devoured it, much like I did all the others in this series. If you've read the first four books, you'll know that each book was told from the wife/girlfriend/SO's point of view with the final chapter(s), told from the respective brother's point of view. I really looked forward to those chapters, to hear from the brothers. So when this book was going to be all from their POV, with a fresh, not regurgitated story, as sometimes happens when you write a book solely from another character's point of view in the same series, I knew I *had* to read it! I was *not* disappointed!

Thank you, LJ, for allowing me to read this one in advance. I can't wait to see where you go next!

"What we shared was pure obsession, nothing more and nothing less, it was the sweetest madness in hell."
This one started out a little slow for me, but at around 50% it picked up and never slowed down!

Rafe was sent to jail for 8 years for a crime he didn't commit. Accused of raping his best friends sister he lost his fighting career and the respect of many of his friends and neighbors. But there were still those that never believed he was guilty.

Alex is the girl that sent him to prison and she knows he's coming back for her. And now that he's been in released after 8 long years, she knows her days are numbered.

And she's right.

She packs a bag, intent on running, from not only the threat of Rafe, but from her step-brother, Zach and all the demons he's caused in Alex's life. She never gets the chance to leave, Rafe gets to her first.

Alex loved Rafe, the Rafe he was when they were kids, but after 8 years of hard time, he's not the same protector she remembers. He's cruel and twisted and live to humiliate and debase Alex, making her pay for her false accusations.

"Nothing mattered so long as she surrendered her soul to my demon and let him devour her."
But, Rafe realizes there is something darker at play here, a secret that Alex is keeping from him. Something even darker than he can imagine.

"Howl for me. Come undone. I'll put you back together."
He will get the truth out of her by
any
means possible. Sex is his weapon, and Alex is his downfall. But Rafe knows her one real weakness, will he use it against her to get at the truth? There's only one way to find out. Read. This. Book!

*Warning*, this book ends in a major cliffhanger, so be sure to have book two on hand as it's picks up in the very moment this one ends. I promise you, once you hit the last page of this one, you'll want to turn the first page on the second one!

This was a great ride, and I can't wait to see where the next book takes me!

I don't even know how to begin to review this one! It's a total mindfuck! It turns and twists and never lets you see what's coming around the next corner. It's dark, tortured, and even heartbreaking at times, and I wouldn't trade a single minute of this read. The only thing I wish is that I could go back and read it for the first time all over again.

Sam finds Melody, a slave who has managed to escape a living hell with evil, vile and sadistic Masters, washed up on a beach close by. He takes her in and cares for her. When she wakes up, she remembers nothing, just bits and pieces, and she's lost the ability to speak.

But what Melody does seem to remember is her training, not many specifics, mainly that she's suppose to "please her Master" at all costs... and she believes that Sam is her new Master. She does everything she can to please him, but he rejects her. Not because he doesn't want her, but because Sam has his own dark secrets and a slave girl is the last thing he needs. Has Melody only managed to trade one evil hell for one far worse? Can she escape a second time? Where will she go? Where will she hide?

This is by far my favorite book that I've read recently by Skye Warren. I couldn't put it down! She does know how to spin a dark erotic story!

It took me a while to get into this book, it seemed repetitious, Tyler was constantly apologizing and Mia was constantly getting beat just for the sake of being beat with no real cause or definition. Yes, I know the situation she was in. Yes I know this is Dark Erotica, it's pretty much all I read these days.I love dark erotica, but I also need the story to flow with some meaning.

Carlos saved Mia from the street, took her in, fed her, clothed her, made her his main "whore". But then he'd just go off and start beating her, or one of the other men would. And some of the beatings, it really didn't seem plausible that Mia could survive as long as she did after all that she went through. But I have to admit, during those scenes, I actually had to try and catch my breath. If Mia couldn't breathe, neither could I.

The book did pick up and hold my interest. Other characters were brought in that helped the story along, and made it an enjoyable ride to the finish.

The one thing that I felt was left unfinished was, what happened to, and with, Trunk?

This one was good enough that I will read Hear Me. Hopefully the trend will continue and I'll enjoy it even more than the last.

The price of the book, currently $3.99 USD, for 142 pages (Kindle edition), I felt was a little high seeing how Hear Me is $2.99 for 161 pages and Keep Me safe is currently $.99 for 95 pages.

I just accidently re-read this book. *Face Palm* I picked up Trust in Me and realized that it was second in the series, and found that I already had this one! SCORE!

Right?

No.

Okay.. I read it, came to review it and found that I'd already read it, but never reviewed and/or rated it. But seems I found it pretty boring last year too, cause this year was the same, boring. The plot was all over the place. And it must have been boring enough that I forgot that I even read it once before. So there's a day i'll never get back.

It was still a yawnfest, and took me way longer to read it than it should have seeing how it was less than 100p.

I am going to try and read the next book in the series since i already purchased it... we'll see!

Review: Silver Bastard

4 *Ohhh! Puck me!* Stars

I listened to this on audio, and it was the first time I'd listened to an audiobook that had a male and female narrator, while Becca's voice, like her, was kind of annoying.. Puck's was, like him, swoon worthy!

I loved Puck.. he was a dick a lot of the time, but he was a bad boy with a sense of humor.. and he totally won me over with that trait.

Puck saved Becca from a terrible home life when she was still in highschool when her stepfather was pimping her out. Once he realized her age he just up and took her back to his town, set her up with a family there that gave her a great homelife. Becca's mother and stepfather are just evil and vile. The don't deserve someone like Becca to even be in their life. Her mother is a user of drugs.. and Becca. Becca is sweet and kind, and she worries about, and tries to take care of, everyone.
"That boy's crazy about you-- it's cute. Like a pit bull crushing on a kitten."
Puck has never forgotten Becca and Becca sure hasn't forgotten Puck, even when he spent time in prison to protect his club. Their relationship is a beautiful thing to watch unfold.
"Becca Jones might be my property in the eyes of the club, but the reality was that she owned me and there wasn't a damned thing I could do about it."
And "in reality" he didn't want to do anything about it. He was hers just as much as she was his.

This book intermingles with with Reaper's MC and we see a lot of those members in this book, Reapers and Old Ladies alike, which I really enjoyed! It was seamless.

I'm really looking forward to more in this series, and seeing where Ms. Wylde will take us on the journey!

I'm not really sure how to rate this Novella. I didn't hate it but it just fell flat for me.

In the beginning I felt like it was really going to go somewhere, I enjoy dark reads and this one had really good potential. But then, it just became... boring.

I didn't really feel a connection to the characters once Gavin had purchased Ruby, then the ending seemed so rushed.

But like I mentioned, I didn't hate it, but it wasn't a stunner for me either.

4 *Sociopathic* Stars

Oh. This. Book. This deliciously twisted, mind-twisting-bending-fucking-blowing book!

I have to admit, in the beginning, I was a little skeptical that this book would fly for me. I wanted dark, but what I seemed to be getting was a lot of (what I thought was) unnecessary world building.

And then...

This book took off like a rocket and went right through the stratosphere, and all I could do was grip my Kindle and hang on for the ride.

Knox
- what a twisted up sociopathic walking package of man candy he is.

"It entertains me to watch you think I care what you want, that I actualy care anything about you at all. It amuses me to manipulated your emotions, to see how much I can give you before I rip it all away again."
With one hand, Knox giveth... but it's with *both* hands, and whatever happens to be in his hands, that he taketh away.

Knox is a hit man for his adoptive father, Yuri, and he enjoys nothing more than carrying out the "exterminations" that Yuri needs from him. Slowly killing each mark in the most horrific way. Each done the same, slowly and methodically, with the lullaby humming through his lips.

Lacey
- Eighteen year old, high school, prostitute, in denial.

"He delights in tormenting me, but I now bask in that torment, I crave his brutality more than I crave the gasping breath I take in to fill my lungs."
Lacey relizes how sick and twisted Knox is, but even though he tells her she has a choice, she doesn't really, she's made a deal with the devil, and there is no backing out now.

Just when she thinks things can't get worse, she finds that they can. Very much so.

Katia
almost as twisted as Knox. But. Not. Quite.

"...it's the Christian thing to do. That's who I am. That's what I've based my public image on. My faith and my humanitarianism have made it possible for the public to love me, to trust me, to see nothing else but what i choose to show them."
Oooooh... I don't like this chick! She's around just enough in the book to mess with your head. The secrets she has, from everyone, including her father, make her the worst kind of sociopath.. the kind that are hiding right in front of your face.

I ended up loving this book, the dark turn it takes and keeps going straight into the deepest, darkest, most sinful kind of dark. This author really "brings it", and I SOOOO can't wait for the next book!
