If I could give this book 10 Stars, I would!
Ker Dukey is one of my favorite dark and twisted authors. She nails it everytime and this time is no exception.

I was looking forward to this book, couldn't wait to get my hot little Kindle wrapped around it! And when I woke up and it was on my Kindle, I was like...
Then while I was reading it and I was like...

This book kept me totally engaged! Loved every page, and turned them quickly! Every character had it's place and was placed well within the story and kept me connected.

"Everyone knows I was abducted with my sister when I was fourteen and I somehow managed to escape when I was eighteen, leaving my then thirteen-year-old sister behind."
Jade Phillips and her sister Macy were taken by "Benny" (Benjamin), who is a complete psychopath! He takes the girls and keeps them in separate cells, and dresses them up like dolls.

Macy isn't perfect anymore, not after Benny scars her face, but Jade is, Jade is his perfect Dirty Little Doll, and he uses her sexually. Jade is mouthy, she doesn't just give in to Benny, which earns her almost daily beatings.

Finally she has the opportunity to escape after four years, but in order to do so, she must leave her sister, Macy, behind. She runs, with the intent of getting help and sending them back to get Macy. But in running, she has a terrible accident, and spends time in a drug induced coma.

Once she wakes up she tries to tell the police where she and Macy were held, to no avail. They can't find the cabin.
Pick up the story eight years later and Jade is now a detective, and every spare moment is spent looking for Macy, and living with her childhood, next door neighbor, Bo. Bo *tries* to understand what Jade has been through, but he really doesn't, what he gives her is more like pity. I liked Bo, but didn't feel like he was the one for Jade.

"Dillon is the alpha male who beats on his chest and dominates my headspace."

"Dillon fucks me like a lion would his bitch in heat as his protectiveness washes over me."
Dillon is Jade's partner on the police force. Now *him* I like. He's no nonsense, and he doesn't give her pity, he just accepts and respects her for the strong woman she's become over the last 8 years since she escaped. He becomes her rock.
The one thing I didn't care for much for, and didn't expect, was the MAJOR cliffhanger.
But looks like it comes out in about 6 weeks from now, so not too long of a wait.

It's taken me some time to sit down and decide how to review this book. Did I love it? Did I hated it?

For most of the book I was kinda like...
But somewhere there in the middle I perked up, it got my attention, I was really starting to feel it!
The cell.. it was deliciously dark, the story took some nice twists... but then, the questions. Oh so many questions!

♦ Who was Beard?
♦ Who was Breath?
♦ Who, or what, were "The Babies"?
♦ What happened to the safe full of money?
And a bigger question...

♦ What was real?
♦ Did it happen?
And the mother of all questions...
I was really into the book at this point, but there were a few sticking points for me.

The amount of sex they had in the cell. Really? Your life is on the line in the most horrific way, and all you're thinking about is sex?

And one line that made me roll my eyes....

"I would kill for a popsicle and a fluffy pillow right now, I said" -Kyle

That was the dumbest thing that could have ever been said at that point.

Okay, so there could be somewhat of an explanation... but it all depends on which version of the story you're willing to believe.

But even at that I was really into the book right up to the end. That ending pissed me off. This books says "standalone".. that is not the ending for a "standalone" book. Too much was left open ended, and obviously from my review, lots and lots of questions unanswered.

Would I read the next book if this were to become a series? Possibly. As long as I knew there would actually be an ending!

I have revised my rating, bumping it from 3.3 Stars to 3.6 Stars only because after getting into this review, and after calming down for a few days, I realized that the saving grace was that I *did* enjoy the middle(ish) part of the book.

I wanted to love this book, I really did, but it just didn't hit the mark for me.

Sam is just a normal everyday college student who enjoys getting a little high and shooting pictures with her camera, mainly selfies. Between classes she likes to hide by the dumpsters and get stoned before class, which is where her photography teacher, Aiden, finds her.

Aiden is the good looking teacher that most of the girls are lusting after, but his shutter only snaps for Sam.

The two plunge into covetous, and forbidden, Teacher/Student affair, and I have to say some of the sex scenes were delicious!

But, I just couldn't get into the story or the characters. They seemed very one dimensional and flat. The premise of the story was a good one, and perhaps it could have been fleshed out more making the characters have a better connection.

The one thing I would strongly suggest is, "Edit, edit, edit...". There were a lot of editing mistakes, to the point of distraction at times.

Like I said, I really wanted to like this story, the author is such a sweetheart. I *will* be watching for more from her in the future, and I hope she takes this review in the helpful context in which it was meant.

Secrets by Claire Thompson

Secrets by Claire Thompson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Writing: ★★★★★
Story: ★★★
Characters: ★★★★
Overall rating: 4.0

Claire Thompson is a favorite author of mine, I've read several of her books, so I was excited to see a new book by her.

This was a sweet, fast paced read. At times almost a little *too* sweet, and a little *too* convenient. But, for the most part, I did enjoy the love story of Dominant Liam and submissive Allie. I enjoyed the fact that their meeting seemed real, that their connection grew until they finally met. They were well suited characters for each other.

The sex scenes in this book were pretty well played out, including the *GASP* water torture scene. Had me feeling panicky just reading about it.

I feel "most" of the scenes were realistic, and sexy hot! There were times that I felt the author tried to put as many BDSM scene plays into the book as she could think of. After a while, it started to become predictable. Not every touch, or every kiss, needs to turn into "up against the wall. And fuck in 3, 2, 1."

I have to admit, there were times when I thought Liam was a jerk. I understand the pushing of limits, and I understand why he did so at times... but to me, he just sounded... "jerkish".

So overall, yes, I liked the book. And I really enjoyed meeting so many of the other characters. The all had a place in the story, they made sense, and even though there were quite a few of them, I felt like I knew them all by the time I finished the book. I'm hoping to see more of them if there are going to be other books in this series.

Red Dog: An Evil Dead MC Story by Nicole James

Red Dog: An Evil Dead MC Story by Nicole  James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Writing: ★★★★★
Story: ★★★★
Characters: ★★★★

Overall rating: 4.3

This was a quick hot read with my morning coffee. I enjoyed seeing Red Dog again, and meeting Mary, his little China Doll.

This novella was just what I needed after the book hangover(s) I had from the previous books in this series. Getting to see Crash, Wolf, Cole, and an "Ol' Lady" thrown in the mix, was just what I needed to keep me connected to the series.

Red Dog and Mary, have had a lot of "ups" and quite a few "downs" during their relationship. But they've always been able to work through it.. until now.

Mary is pissed, and Red Dog is stumped as to *why* that is this time. She's up and left, took all of her stuff, and their son, and just left. He doesn't even know where to begin to look for them.

We see a lot of flashbacks to how Red Dog and Mary first met, the ups and downs in their tumultuous relationship. But in all the years, we've never seen Mary leave and just "be done" with Red Dog.

Can he get her back, or has he fucked up one too many times for Mary to even consider it this time?

Grab a cup of your favorite beverage, curl up with your e-reader, and step back into the world of The Evil Dead, and find out for yourself.

I sure hope that Nicole James has more books planned for this series! I love me some Evil Dead!!

*****5 "Gory & Sadistic" Stars*****

"Everyone here was either slave, master, medical, or guard. Even the Attendants were slaves."

"Slave twenty-four-six-ninety was going to be mine. I had made sure of it."
I happened onto this book quite by accident and I'm so glad I did. This book puts me in the mind of Pepper Winters' Indebted series with the no holds barred darkness. This author holds nothing back in how black she paints the picture around these characters. The twists and turns just in the first half of the book kept my mind reeling. Just when I thought I knew something, I was wrong, every single time. That is probably the thing I loved most about this book, all the mind-fuckery.

Alaska Angelini writing under the pen name of A.A. Dark, is currently right up there with my favorite "Queens of Dark and Taboo". If you like true darkness, then this book is totally for you.

"I wasn't Everleigh anymore. I was no one but a dead slave, alive."

The main male characters, Bram and West, are the stuff nightmares are made of! Bram is the "Main Master" of Whitlock, a dark and sinister place where the rich and famous come to play. Anything goes between the Master's and the slaves. From purchasing one at an auction until they die either naturally or at the hand of their owner, the slaves can be subjected to all manner of deviant behavior from a simple slap to rape to flaying. There are no consequences, the slaves are nothing but toys to be played with, then discarded by death once they are broken.

Slave 24690 has been at Whitlock since she was kidnapped at 10 years old. When she came "of age" she was auctioned off and purchased by her first master. Outside of beatings, she was treated very well... until her master is murdered and she is blamed.

Bram took care of slave 24690 from the time she was 10 until she went to auction. He didn't touch her. He kept her safe, and in the dark recesses of his mind, he knew he held affection for her. But it was something Bram would never act on. Bram had sworn to never take a slave.

When Bram's father died Bram became the new Main Master of Whitlock. It was his, and everyone there worked for him. Period.

West was Bram's best friend from childhood. Where Bram was raised with a silver spoon lodged firmly in his mouth, West was not. Bram's father, seeing how close the boys were as children, as close as brothers, paid for West's education, and he became, pretty much, Bram's right hand man once Bram took over Whitlock.

West harbored a jealousy, however. No matter how good he was, Bram was always one step better. He kept the jealousy hidden, Bram was his brother, and the Main Master. Bram deserved West's respect.

As the story moves on, the darkness becomes a black hole that just sucked me in. Chapter by chapter. Page by page. At times the next frightening twist was almost too much, and I had to put my Kindle down, wrap it in a blanket, and put it under the bed or couch... afraid that what I was reading could jump off the screen and play itself out in front of me. That's how well A.A. Dark/Alaska Angelini writes. It's more than a movie playing in my head, it feels as if I'm right *there*>

From the blurb:
"***WARNING***
This book contains EXTREMELY disturbing situations, explicit sexual content, and very graphic language. This book EXCEEDS the dark genre and has been classified as PITCH BLACK. May contain triggers for some. Read at your own risk!!"
Consider yourself warned. But even *that* warning isn't enough to express how "Pitch Black" this book is.

There were times, towards the end that my mind drifted a bit.. there were a couple of parts that were unbelievable for me, and a bit redundant. But, they didn't last long and I was back in the house of horrors again. There were many editing and grammar mistakes in this book, but not enough to detract to much from the experience.

I was going to deduct one star from this 5 star read, but I couldn't do it! The book is too good! My gripe: The author makes no mention about this being the first in a series, not even a hint at that fact. So the major cliffhanger ending did not amuse me in the least. But I got over it! There is hope on the horizon with book 2, "White Out" being written. Keep up with the Author's Facebook page (and look for the YouTube trailer on her closed group page for White Out. It's amazing!).

Stay busy writing Alaska! You don't have any time for breaks, I need White Out! (oh and a blurb here on Goodreads would be nice so we can mark it as "To Read" and keep up with a release date!)

Challenged by Ryan Michele

Challenged by Ryan Michele

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Writing: ★★★
Story: ★★
Characters: ★★

Overall rating: 2.3

Cade 'Spook' Baker and Trixie "Trix" Lamasters met 15 years ago in high school, they dated for 6 months then Cade had to leave her for the Vipers Creed Motorcycle Club, breaking Trixie's heart.

Fifteen years later, "Trix" has to go to "Spook" for a favor. Trix owns Sirens, a strip club, and one of her girls, Nanette, is hiding out at the clubhouse and she owes Trix a pretty big chunk of change and Trix wants payment in full.

Okay, so I enjoyed the beginning of this book when Trix was pretty much a "stand on my own and own my shit" kinda woman. That started to fall by the wayside pretty damn quick.
Cade/Spook... never much cared for him at all. He was a misogynistic man child. Okay, so I know that one of the reasons we (I) read a good Motorcycle Erotica book is for the fierce, sexy, hot, badass bad boys.. and the sex. But at the same time, I don't want the main male lead to be a giant ass. All. The. Time. And Spook had me rolling my eyes more than once.

There was just no character development for Spook or Trixie.
Another thing that I wish some writers would learn when writing MC books.. not every other word has to be "fuck". I did a search on my Kindle of that word and it came up saying.. "found more than 500 times"... in a 200 page book. Learn to use it sparingly, find another way to get your point across.
Some of the best Motorcycle Erotica books (and Dark taboo non-con erotica), get more attention from me, when I realize that the characters have actually made me connect with them when they didn't have to throw the "fucks" out everytime they spoke.
It gets to be so distracting that I end up rolling my eyes at another "unique use" (not) of "fuck and fucking".

And the sex. While it was hot.. some of the time, again an overabundance of something can overshadow the actual story... which is exactly what happened here. Build the sex *into* the story, not the story *around* the sex. It loses its... well "sex appeal.
They had so much sex that I imagined Trix to be in a constant state of orgasm!
"The only way he'd get between my legs was if he used the jaws of life."
Yeah, Trixie, you shoulda stuck with that thought a few times.
There is a difference between dominating your partner, which is what I think the author was *trying* to go for with Spook, and just being an asshat. Just the way it started when Trix first walked into Spooks office, she'd been there a few minutes and he already had her back pressed against the door, holding her in place, and tongue down her throat, and soon after that he was claiming her as his. While this could have been hot as hell, I just didn't buy it with Spook.

It took to 83% (yes, I kept reading it.. it did have it's good moments), before it really made me sit up and take notice for a little while. While the basic idea was there for a good story, it just fell a bit short for me.

*****5 "I love you enough to put you on the back of my bike and keep you there for good." Stars*****

Okay. Just. Wow. What a wild ride! I have to say that from book 1, Kick, to this book, the author's writing style grew by leaps and bounds. This book kept me on the edge of my seat, gripping my Kindle, and more than once whispering, "nooooo...!"
"I want her submission. I want her heart. I want her to look at me and not wish I were someone else. More than anything though, I want to rid her of the belief that to love is to hurt to feel pleasure is to hurt."
Tank - a.k.a. Death, a.k.a. Jonah Whitecross, he's not your typical biker that you read about in most MC books. Even though he's a killer, and has no qualms about it. He can be demanding, overbearing, a complete "arsehole" at times... but he can also be gentle, caring, and loving, much to Ivy's surprise and dismay.

Ivy - club whore, junkie, lost girl... victim. And she wants nothing to do with that caring and loving side of Tank. Ivy needs to be abused to "feel"... well anything. She doesn't do "pleasure".

Tank is going to try and show her just how wrong she is on that front. And he does it damn well, too!
Tank has been in love with Ivy since he first met her, but Ivy's not in love with Tank, far from it, and to make matter's worse, he's taken her to his cabin and "held her prisoner"... her words, not his. He's taken her away from the club, away from Kick, and away from any way to get her drugs. He wants to help her get clean and she doesn't want any part of Tank's help.

But she's going to get it, whether she likes it or not!

Snuffed: Part One by Bonnie Capps

*****5 "Fuckin' Awesome" Stars!*****

"WARNING: This book is not just dark - it’s horrific, depraved and disturbing. If you do not enjoy books containing blood, guts, taboo and more – this book is not for you."

Best thing to do is to believe every word of that warning! But if that warning just makes your spine tingle with anticipation, like it did mine, and you love "Dark taboo", and I do mean dark taboo, then run, don't walk, and Get. This. Book.
We are two beings seemingly attempting to fit into a mold in which we do not belong. His being normalcy and mine being the deadly world that I have no business being a part of.
--Sophia
After reading [book:Snuff|28416348], I could hardly wait for this one to come out! I was like a kid at Christmas.. a very dark and depraved Christmas.. when I woke up to this on my Kindle! I devoured it in one sitting. Couldn't put it down, couldn't look away, no matter how much my mind screamed that I should.

Snuffed: Part One picks up where Snuff leaves off with Sofia and baby Eve right back "home" with Dimitri. Sofia has been there done that, so she knows what to expect when she sees Dimitri, but she also knows that this time is going to be much, much worse.

I am to never question or deny him. I am to dress as he wants me to dress, eat how he wants me to eat, say what he wants me to say, seduce who he wants me to seduce, torment who he wants me to orment ... and kill who he wants me to kill.
--Sophia

I can't go into too much detail in this review, as I don't want to spoil even a second of this book.

As a lover of Dark Taboo, this one ranks right up there at the very tip top in "fucked-uped-ness"! Can't wait to read the next book, due out this fall, and it can't come a second too soon!
