The Interview: Law Firm Erotica Book I

The Interview: Law Firm Erotica Book IThe Interview: Law Firm Erotica Book I by Silk Jones

4 Spankalicious Stars!!

Writing - 5

Overall Rating - 4.25

What a quick hot read with my morning coffee! Great way to start the day!

Laura has lost her job as an accountant at a law firm she worked at for 10 years. She takes her time looking for a new position, when reading (BDSM) Erotica leads her to a BDSM site and the ad for a submissive legal assistant.

Mr. Hobbs is boss, alpha male, and sexy Dom all rolled into one. He has Laura come in for an interview, and he's very intrigued by her, even though she is obviously an untrained submissive that has a wee bit of trouble following orders! Not to worry, Mr. Hobbs is more than a happy to correct the little subbie!

I really enjoyed this book. It was a great BDSM Fantasy read, being a submissive in the lifestyle myself, there were things about this book that told me the author did her research. A couple of things really stood out to me.

This line for instance.

"Do you realize the being a submissive is a set of personality traits as opposed to a practice?"

Nailed it!

This next paragraph made me laugh out loud, mainly because it's so true!

"So you think you're a submissive because you've read 50 Shades of Gray and got a little turned on? Do you think that makes you and half the sex-starved housewives in Nebraska submissives?"

Mr. Hobbs shows Laura what happens to naughty subs that don't follow orders.. and OMG... it was HAWT!!

This book is a short story that is meant to be a hot fantasy, and it delivered! Thank you to the author, Silk Jones, for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. I look forward to the next one!

Her Master's Teacher

Her Master's Teacher (Masters, #2)Her Master's Teacher by Lily White
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*****5 Heart stoppingly sadistic stars!*****
"She used her natural talents to adorn the success, wealth and status he'd attained. She was not just a slave to his desires, but and acquisition that was adored. Once the courtesan learned that fact, she was set free in her sexuality."

I need to catch my breath after this one!

*takes several deep breaths*

Okay. I'm fine.

Ummm... wait. Maybe not.

This book is just one giant mindfuck!

Just when I thought I had every thing figured out, nope, not even close. This book has more twists and turns than a... twisty turny thing!

Claire

"Life was a cruel thing and no matter what you plan, it doesn't always turn out the way you expected in he end. I'd been careful in life. Almost too careful and it felt like I'd wasted so much time working towards something that would eventually have no meaning. I should have been out with friends. I should have been falling in love. I should have been doing the things I would never have the opportunity to do since I'd been thrown into this room, left to wither away like a dying flower."

Claire is a psychology professor. I liked her, felt a connection to her, and I sympathized with her. Truly. I felt her fear and hopelessness. I didn't like the cocky little snot that sat in her classroom day after day. But... then as time and story moved on, I started looking for him, wanting him to look at her, pay attention to her. Then in the worst way possible.. he did. He takes her from her life.

Holland

"My name is Holland Strong and at 21 years old, I'm the youngest man training to be a Master within a scoiety of wealthy and influential men. My training began early and I'm considered a potential savant within the society."

It was a particular lecture that Claire gives in her class, in which Holland is a student, that gets his attention. A lecture on Stockholm Syndrome.

Claire particularly gets Holland's attention when she gives her theory of Stockholm Syndrome.

"If a person is able to understand the mechanics of how Stockholm works, a person can take steps to prevent it from occurring within them if they find themselves in an abusive or captive situation."

This definitely gets Holland's attention!

Ahhh... and we have Aiden

Aiden hasn't lost any of his bite from the first book. And I love that about him. He is definitely a character I love to hate! Aiden is Holland's Mentor. The man responsible for teaching Holland how to become, and be, a Master in the exclusive society.

Aiden was true to form in this book to be sure. And I was happy that he was (also) a main character in this book. A driving force.

While i loved Her Master's Teacher, i still think Her Master's Courtesan, was my favorite of the two. This one was just awesome in a different way. I think i enjoyed the first one more because there was more Aiden in it.. yes, i admit it.. i'm a little Stockholmy for Aiden. Don't judge me! :D

The "pear of anguish" that Aiden used on Claire.. The description made me shudder and i could actually picture it being used. I love that about Lily White's writing in this series!

Rebecca makes an appearance in this book too, but she's basically just in and out of the room, under the desk, eating out of her dog bowl. She does play an important part in the story, but we just don't see as much of her as we do Aiden. But we do still see the love she has for her Master... and the care that her Master gives to her in the only way that Aiden is capable of.

This book was a complete and total mindfuck. From page one right until the last page. Every time I thought I had something figured it out it took a hard left and proved me wrong, and things I didn't see coming caused me to re-read a part just to be sure I'd just read what I thought I'd read! The way Ms. White took everything you thought you'd read, cut it up in tiny little pieces and tossed it in the wind, that's the kind of things i love and what took this book to a complete and solid 5 star read for me!

I'm really hoping we'll see more of the Master's Series in the future.. and I hope that Aiden is still the teacher of the Masters!

Review: Burn For Me

Burn For Me (Phoenix Fire, #1)Burn For Me by Cynthia Eden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book Cover ★★★★
Book Blurb ★★★★
Writing ★★★
Character Development ★★★★
Ending ★★★★★
Heat Rating ★★★★

Overall Rating 4.0

This book for the most part was really enjoyable, and at times edge of your seat and heartbreaking. I really enjoyed the concept of Subject Thirteen... Cain O'Connor. He was a new breed of paranormal men for me. And mmmm... he was HOT! In more ways than one!

"I'm the monster in the dark. The big, fucking bad wolf. I've seen hell, and I've bought hell to earth."
I mean really, he had me at "big, fucking bad wolf"!

But I do have one major gripe that kept this from being a 5 star for me... Eve. Things were just way to convenient when it came to this character. It was like the author kept throwing things in there for convenience. Couple cases in point:

"The motorcycle roared to life. Cain had jumped on behind her, his body curved around hers. Eve gripped the handlebars and she drove that bike the hell out of there. She knew her motorcycles. Knew exactly how to handle them."

Well, damn good thing there just happened to be one right there then, huh? And that this woman just happened to know how to drive it.

Then they are riding this bike outrunning the bullets, and then...

"...so she needed to get away as fast as possible.
Good thing she knew this area.
And the perfect safe house."

Well damn, isn't that just the lucky break!

But someone has a bullet wound... well enter Eve.

"'They'll save him,' Eve said, sounding so certain. 'The wound was all gore, but nothing vital had been hit.'
He glanced her way.
'Two years of med school,' she explained with a sigh. Her eyes closed as if she were tired. 'I know what death looks like.'"

Wow, she's just a Jane of all trades that one.

There were many instances like that in the book, but I didn't really start noticing them until about midway through.

Outside of that complaint, I did enjoy the story. Enjoyed the fresh new spin on what Cain was, and what happened to him when he changed. I liked the fact that it was Eve that smelled "like fucking candy..." to him, making her irrisistable to him.

Eve's internal monologue was, at times, pretty hysterical! I loved the snarkiness!

Snarkiness always wins me over for a character!

My first thought as soon as I finished this book...

I don't even know what to say about this book! It was different, but I loved it. It was confusing at times, but I loved it!

This was a book I couldn't put down, I had to keep going to find out what the next totally screwed up thing was that was going to happen. There were a lot of surprises in this book. Just when you thought you had it figured out, nope, it made a complete 180° turn.

The odd thing about this book, and I've seen it said in numerous reviews... half the time I had no idea what the hell was going on, and at the end... I still wasn't sure!

The preface says this, "If you are not a fan of erotic, dark and twisted romances, psychological thrillers, or complicated romances this story will not appeal to you." Well hell... color me there for that alone! This book was exactly that and more.

This book also deals with some very touchy issues, such as suicide. Not something I normally want to read about in my books, but the author tells those parts of the story very well.

The sex in this book was erotic and ohhh sooo hot! It was usually well placed, and made sense in the grand scheme of the story, but there were a couple of times that I was like.. "damn, they're going to have sex again", and I'd have to do a little skimming.

About skimming... this is not really a book you can or should do that with. You *will* miss something important. I spent a lot of time backing up and re-reading some things. It's like watching a thriller on TV, don't turn away for a moment.. or you'll miss something that could effect the whole plot. Yeah, this book was like that!

The characters in this book are all messed up in the head... not just the main character(s)... but every single character in this book is dark and twisted in some way.

This book was twisted, totally fucked up, and one mind-fuck after the other.

Did I mention I loved it?
