*****5 Perfectly Dark and Erotic Stars*****

His little white lamb, who willingly penetrated the lions' den, for him. He would slaughter them all for her, would paint the world red and lay its carcass at her feet.

This story.. this beautifully twisted, sadistic, romantic, dark story. I loved it. From the first page to the last I was totally and completely captivated. I couldn't put it down, actually woke up in the middle of the night to read more of Kayne and Laura.

Kayne is in The "Organization" and they are looking for a man named Peter who took from them. Not a smart thing to do to this, or any, organization. Peter has a beautiful, sweet, and very naive sister, Laura, who Kayne and the higher ups suspect knows exactly where to find her brother.

She doesn't... well not exactly. She gets a post card from her brother ever couple of weeks since he's been on the run, it's in a code they've made up together, that only they know how to read, and only they would understand. Kayne's job is to bring Laura in for "questioning". He follows her for a couple of weeks, then meets up with her at a bar where she's gone with a friend. A place she didn't want to go to in the first place.

Next thing she knows she's with the very handsome Kayne, in his car... he is suppose to be taking her home, but he has to drop something off first. Her. With some very bad men who are intent on getting Peter's whereabouts out of her in anyway possible.

There is something about her, something that draws Kayne to her. That makes him protective of her. No explanation in his mind as to why this is even possible.

Laura is such a sweet, innocent girl. I loved her through the whole story. I loved Kayne from the moment he popped up on the pages of my Kindle. The sadistic, brooding, at times very cruel, Kayne. They fit perfectly together the sadist and the innocent.

Kayne's sexual tastes run very dark. But with his "Pets", it's always consensual and only with those that really and truly enjoy his brand of torture, but, Laura isn't that type of girl. She's very much a submissive, but not a masochistic one. Kayne finds at times, he wishes she were, but more often than not, thankful that she isn't. But he does get off on humiliating his sweet Laura. Watching as her passion turns to fear and tears, only to swing wildly back to passion.

These two, it seems, love to hate to love each other. She's his devoted submissive, he's her loving Monster, and the dance the do with each other is unlike anything I've ever read before.

He would slaughter lion and lamb alike, let their blood rain down on him to keep her coat white as snow. From hell his laughter would echo all the way to the heavens he would have secured for her.

No matter how he treats Laura, he is still protective of her. He is her Monster Master. Her Big Bad Wolf. She is his little lamb, his submissive, his beautiful captive. And he will do anything, give up anything, for her. If only she'd see him for those traits.

This book.. I can't even begin to describe the emotions I felt while reading it. I actually felt the pain in my heart at times for Laura and Kayne. This isn't your typical bedtime story with it's dark and twisted events. It's beautifully dark torture.

I didn't realize until the very end that this was meant to be a part of a trilogy. But, I'm still happy I read it, and I'm looking SOOO forward to the next chapter.

L.C. Moon... won't you read me another Bedtime Story? Soon?

Review: By My Choice...: A Valentine's Day Story

By My Choice...: A Valentine's Day Story by Christine Blackthorn

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Overall rating: 3.6 (rounded up to 4 Stars)

This was a quick hot read of a unique story, and despite it being so short, I still enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

The best part of the sex scenes in this book, besides the hotness level, was that I felt the scenes were a necessary part of the story, not just written for the sake of writing sex. The sex is story driven. It worked quite well, even for a novella.

Jennifer is a human raised in a Paranormal Court, growing up with Vampires being a "normal" part of her life. Being that she is so ingrained in this life, she must also follow it's traditions. Swearing fealty to the Liege for a set period of time, (several years), which Jennifer accomplished by swearing her loyalty to a vampire who is also her best friend.

Until he sold her.

Where it takes her from there is a wild, ohhh so sexy, and at times, a dark ride. If you like those in your books, *AND* the added bonus of some sexy vamps, then this book is for you!

I don't even know where to start in this twisted tale! I love, and I do mean LOVE dark reads. The darker the better. While this one was dark, it wasn't the darkest I've read, but it was good. Really good! Also, with the author's promise of more darkness to come in the series, that makes me want to jump right in to book two!

Anna is such a sweet girl with a skewed view of the world, thanks to her "Guardians". She lost her parents in a car crash when she was 11. She went to live with her Guardian, Jack, and had contact with "Uncle Devin". These two sadistic bastards really are the epitome of psychos! From the age of 11 to 16, they treat Anna like a little princess. Showering her with love and... affection... and all the material things a little girl could want or need. She's very much loved and she loves the two men in her live more than anything.

Then Anna turns 16 and her world turns upside down. She is no longer considered their little princess, she is taken and put in the basement where she is tortured, raped, beaten, and "trained" to be the perfect submissive.

Until her 20th birthday. That's when things change again.

It's hard to tell, is she loved? Is there an ulterior motive? What are Jack and Devin up to? Who are the Germans? Why does she have visions of a man with cobalt blue eyes?

The twists and turns throughout this book kept me on the edge of my seat, shouting at characters, and feeling for Anna. I love when a book can do that to me.

Great start to what I hope will continue on to a great series read for me.

Highly recommend if you like dark and taboo!

Review: Undersold

Undersold
Undersold by B.B. Hamel

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

****4 Rich and Sweet Stars

I need to preface this review by saying that I don't normally read NA stories, but the blurb to this one caught my interest when the author, B.B. Hamel contacted me, and I looked forward to reading it, so much so that I bumped it up to my next read.

When I opened this book and started reading, I was pretty much drawn into the story right away.

It touched on so many things, softly, subtly, and a lot of the time, in a very sexy way! Oh yes, the sex was hot!

I connected with Amy and Shane right away, she was the right mixture of smart, sassy, and geeky. He was just the right mixture of mysterious, sexy, sexy dominant, and sexy rich! She's a bubbly girl who enjoys her friends... when she has time and isn't busy trying to get her app completed, off the ground, and sold. He's practically reclusive. Doesn't publically date, and is a very private person.

And then along comes Amy. She literally crashes into his world, via some very naughty sexting!

Both Shane and Amy have family problems, some that are very similar, and causes them to become closer and closer. But it's the things outside of family that pulls these two closer and closer, making for a quick, sweet, and wild ride.

Yes, this is a sweet story, and one I enjoyed reading. It put a happy in my day!

Thank you, B.B. for the opportunity to read your new book!

I was offered an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Overall rating: 4.6 (rounded up to 5 Stars)

First I need to comment on the cover of this book. HOT! Just sexy hot!

This book is written from a 3-way point of view, hard to do and keep the story from becoming too convoluted, but Terry Towers does it, and it works really well in this story.

Anastasia is a "bought bride" from the Ukraine, she came from nothing with the promise of a better life for her and her son Ura. What she was promised was very different for the abusive life she received. She was a "trophy wife", dressed in the finest, living the life of a rich wife. But behind closed doors, the man who she is married to is anything but the perfect husband. He is abusive and kinky. His sadistic ways, and his interpretation of the BDSM lifestyle leave Anastasia battered and bruised.

One night, after an altercation with her husband, Alexander, she hits him, knocking him out and scarring him, she packs light and steals $10,000 from Alexander's safe, takes Ura and runs, ending up in Maine.

In Maine, she finally finds an apartment, above a bar. Jaxson is the owner, he's ex-military and very much the gentleman that considers it his duty to take care of a woman that is obviously distressed.

The relationship that blooms between Anastasia and Jaxon is beautiful, the story isn't rushed, and it allows for an emotional connection with the characters in the story.

This is my second Terry Towers book, and it won't be my last. She truly has a gift of immersing the reader in the story.

Review: The Sect

The Sect
The Sect by Courtney Lane

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

*****4 Total Mind Blowing Stars*****

Writing: ★★★★
Story: ★★★★
Characters: ★★★★-1/2

Overall rating: 4.1

Keyton is a woman with a terrible past with a man that wants to take away her future. She runs from a life of wealth and privilege to live, hiding in plain sight, on the mean streets of D.C.

She knew Jeff because she spent time with him every day during her lunch hours before she left home. Jeff is a homeless Vietnam Vet who becomes Keaton's protector and teacher on those streets. Jeff teaches her how to survive by making herself look like a boy and act like a mute to keep from giving herself away, how to become a pickpocket, and how to hide in plain sight even when those that are looking for her are just a few feet from her.

Keaton really had it rough at every turn in this book. She is running from her home and parents she loves to live on the streets, which she thought would be better than living where her monster of an ex-boyfriend could get to her. She is truly a lost and broken soul. This character made you want to protect her, see her protected, and shake her all at once to make her go home. But she felt that no matter how much money her family had, the monster from her past had more.

Then one day in a soup kitchen, she sees Noah, he's a handsome man, and he's looking at her. The way he looks at her elicits something in Keaton like she's never felt before. Jeff tries to warn her not to talk to them, but Keaton thinks she knows better.

Noah works for Reven, who helps the homeless by offering them "true freedom". She listens to what he has to say, but politely declines his offer. But it's too late, she is drugged and taken to "The House of Rebirth", where she finds that Reven is the leader of a "religious" cult… where "religion" is actually the worship of the narcissistic Reven and all he holds sacred, and what he holds sacred is sexual and sadistic. There is always a torturous punishment for those that do not follow Reven's rules. Some of the punishments actually made me lay the book aside to catch my breath! They could be tough to read, and Noah is the one that actually does most of the punishments.

I didn't even know what to feel about Noah. He was one I loved to hate… and really hated to even like. Noah, to me, was like an "Enforcer", a giant, pissed off, cruel, man with something… and nothing… to prove. He was a character I hated seeing come through the door of Keaton's room, and one I couldn't get enough of.

Keaton is strong, she doesn't want to lose her humanity in this place, and her strength is what keeps her in trouble most of the time. But Noah and his seductive ways are wearing her down. Tearing down her defenses. Causing her to need and want him, only so he can break her further through cruel rejection. No matter how much she tries to understand him, and figure him out, she comes up empty. No matter how much she tries to be strong and deny him, she is falling for him, craving the man, and his touch.

Even as cruel and evil as Noah is, he does still try to protect Keaton from the other horrors in The House of Rebirth, Reven, and the "Henchmen" that serve Reven. But Keaton fights him at every turn, causing harsh and cruel punishments.

There was one major thing I figured out about half way through this book, but for the most part, the twists and turns kept me guessing. I loved the darkness of this book and the twisted mindfuckery.

The only thing that keeps this from being a 5 Star book is the ending. It was a lot of information to digest about the book all at once, everything came together but I had to keep going back into the book to find things they were referring to that didn't seem important at the time.
